Good advice about septum

If your septum piercing is relatively new, it is a good idea to choose jewelry with a bar thickness of 1.2 mm, so as not to put too much pressure on the septum between the nostrils at first. After a few months, you can start to widen the hole a little if you want a larger piece of jewelry with a bar thickness of, for example, 1.6 mm. It is important to clean your piercings regularly to prevent infection. Fortunately, a septum is relatively easy to care for and rarely causes infections. While a piercing is healing, it should be cleaned morning and evening with isotonic saline. The jewelry should not be replaced until the piercing has healed. You should always follow your piercer's advice regarding cleaning, as it is the piercer who guarantees your piercing.

If you haven't had a septum done yet, but are keen to get one, it's important to see an experienced piercer to ensure the results are satisfactory. A skilled piercer will ensure that the piercing is not crooked or done in the wrong tissue. A septum should be placed in the part of the ear that is under the hard cartilage.
